Detailed Anatomy Scan

We had our anatomy scan and appointment with our high risk specialist two weeks ago (16weeks). It was very taxing laying down for an hour while someone mashed all over my abdomen. I nearly passed out and had to sit up by about 45min....fairly normal though from what the tech said.

Twin A (on my left) has echogenic intracardiac focus which is a bright spot on the heart. It's not uncommon. Most likely it's a normal variation in the development of a healthy baby. There's a slight...very slight possibility there maybe an increased risk for chromosomal abnormality but usually only if other indicators are found (which there were not).

Twin B (on my right) has a choroid plexus cyst (CPC) on his/her brain. These do not cause problems and most disappear by the last three months of pregnancy. Rarely there is a possibility of a chromosomal abnormality but usually only if other indicators are found (which there were not).

My next anatomy scan is June 12th. I will also be having genetic counseling done. I was very hesitant to do the testing, but my dr. said if I was his daughter or sister he would recommend it. Just so we can prepare. Not quite sure how you can prepare for something like that....but I'm going with my gut and getting it done. It's not an invasive procedure...just a blood panel that measures certain proteins in the blood.

The doctor assured and reassured that the babies are beautiful and their anatomy is perfect. It was great to see them moving around (since I'm not feeling movement yet).

So onto the good news!

We found out the twins are fraternal!!!!! How exciting! So they can be boy/boy, boy/girl, or girl/girl twins. Of course, as many of you know, we are not finding out the gender. My sister was with me at the ultrasound though and she knows....NO you may not have her number. Her lips are sealed. All she did was smile really big!

My energy levels are coming back and we started our baby registry. I started decorating the nursery too. So exciting how things are coming together.

Couple of Common Questions I get:

Stretch Marks? Nope. Not a one (knock on wood)

Sleep? Sleep is ok most nights. Pregnancy boppy pillow is a miracle.

Movement? I think I MIGHT have felt a few flutters

Cravings? None

Gender? C'mon now....you know we're not finding out

Belly Button In or Out? In but flush with the rest of the belly

Symptoms? Heartburn at night time before bed
