Why I LOVE CrossFit

I LOVE CrossFit. Like seriously it's my passion (along side cooking). Here's a few reasons why:

1. The Community
At my box we're not only a team, we're a family. We workout together but we also have social events. We are "kid friendly"- we have a nursery and a kids room. We encourage one another and never leave anyone behind. Often the last to finish is the one who's cheered on the most. If I'm not at home odds are I'm at the gym or hanging out with my friends from the gym. My gym family is closer to me than most of my real family.

2.  The Competition
You're not only competing against your fellow athletes...you're biggest competition is yourself. In CrossFit you can push yourself as hard or as little as you want to. You are the deciding factor in how hard you want to work, how fast you want to go, how legit you want to be.

3. I'm ALWAYS Learning Something New
Everyday I walk into that gym I learn something new. Whether it's how to better cue a movement, how to motivate someone the way they need to be motivated or realizing just how strong or weak I am. It never fails there's always something to be learned.

4. It's Never The Same & It's Functional
CVFMHI- constantly varied functional movements at a high intensity. That's what CrossFit is. No two workouts are the same (unless it's a benchmark or a Hero WOD). One day your running, the next your rowing, there's gymnastics, there's Olympic style lifting. You WILL NOT get bored easily...unless you're crazy. In that case, I can't help you. You'll work on functional movements that you use in everyday life. You don't curl a bad of dog food to the counter. You dead lift, clean, then place it there.

5. Anyone Can Do It
The simplicity of it all is that each movement is scalable to fit each individuals athletic needs. Not everyone is created equal so why should everybody be expected to do the same workout?

6. It's Fun
No seriously it is. I've never had as much fun working out as I do in CrossFit. Not only do I workout I also Coach. I love teaching people new things and watching them continually improve and succeed. CrossFit enables those to achieve what they never believed they could.

7. You Can't Get Cocky
I mean you can but be prepared to have your ass handed to you. Just when you think you've got that movement down a workout will come around and slap you in the face. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses and odds are you'll have both in the workout. Check your ego in at the door folks, it'll help you out in the long run.

8. I Can Be Me
Simple as that. I can be sweaty, stinky, tattooed, foul mouthed, competitive, and energetic. I can be me and now worry about being judged. I'm loved for who I am.

9. The Results
I'm the fit you want to be, the look you want to have, and I have the drive you can't even imagine. Keep coming back it works if you work it. It's amazing what training and a clean diet can do.

10. It Makes Me Invincible
You can be too.

Randomness of Me

I'm going to give this blogging thing a shot.  I'll start off by introducing the randomness of me:

-I'm 29 years young. I'm a Jesus lover, a wife, a sister, a friend, a CrossFitter, a coach, a foodie, and a mom to an awesome great dane doggie named Remi.

-I love to cook. Like LOVE to cook. It's my stress relief, my passion, it's just what I do. Oh, and I'm self-taught.

- CrossFit is my other passion. I started in January of 2012 and haven't looked back since. Not only do I CrossFit...I coach CrossFit. I love it.

- Cheeseburgers and french fries are my weakness.

- Coffee (black with sweet-n-low) is a neccessity in my life.

- I have a lot of tattoos.

- I'm of the Caucasian Asian persuasion...my mother is Thai and my father is a white boy.

- I sleep with a stuffed teddy bear named Peanut Butter Fluffy Butt

- I get bored easily. My grandmother use to say only stupid people get bored....guess that's about sums that up.

- I have a degree that has nothing to do with my profession. Go figure.

- I hate running. A LOT.

- I have the best husband in the world. I know a lot of women say that...but I'm the only one who's telling the truth.

- I wanted to be a marine biologist or a jet fighter pilot when I was younger. I still don't know what I REALLY want to be. Happy works just fine.

I know there's a shit ton more to be said...but it's time for me to go home. I'm out.

Adios,
D
